NOW PLAYING: Christmas Time10 December, 2001 We strung the lights on it with only a slight bit of difficulty and left it that way for a few days before I finally got around to hanging the ornaments on it. We had an ornament hook shortage for some reason, and I had no way to put the baubles on the tree branches. A trip to the Wal-Mart didn't solve the problem — evidently, the shortage is pretty widespread, because there were no wire ornament hooks to be found in the store. We did manage to find a pack of 100 green plastic hangers, which looked dubious, but we were desperate. It turned out that they work okay on ornaments that have a ribbon or string loop, but these fat green hangers won't fit through the little hole at the top of many of our decorations. The tree looks alright, I didn't leave any gaping holes undecorated, but I could use a box of wire ornament hooks so the rest of the decorations can go up. Hopefully the hook shortage won't last all season and we'll be able to fully decorate our Christmas Shrub. Meanwhile, if you're in the mood for an old-fashioned sentimental Christmas story, check out The Rifle — you might want to have a tissue handy, though. Happy Holidays!
